from Morgan StanleyHi L,
I am having difficulties understanding what you really want to know. The second letter got me even more confused. However, I do want to share with you an article about Morgan Stanley's ex-co-chair Zoe Cruz. It tells you what it takes to get into (and get out of) a company like MS.

I like reader #87's quote --人生可以跌倒,但是要跌得精采,跌得值得. I asked myself if Zoe's story is a success or a failure. It doesn't matter how I think, Zoe shall be the only one to judge. A story like this that inspires and motivates people definitely earned my respect.

You said "如果說將來可能申請MBA的話,最大的原因應該是Morgan Stanley吧!". As an MS employee, I feel honored and I thank you for this. Look at Zoe, after 25 years with the firm, she got fired just like that. (I saw her probably only 3 weeks before it happened.) On Wall street, in front of money, loyalty barely counts. MS provides financial services to the world, we need all kinds of people and talents. A smart company wouldn't turn a candidate away just because he/she doesn't have the right major in school. Technical skills can be taught. (Hey, anybody can borrow any books from the library!) It's the soft skills and the determination to excel that make the difference. To demonstrate that you have the strong will, potential, and the cultural fit that are better than all the other applicants (who mostly have the right majors) is the tricky part! And after you get in, that's when bigger challenges really start to hit you. : )

I have an MBA, but getting into a wall street firm was never the reason to get the education. It was for the journey, the great friends I've met, and to become who I am now. I truly like what I do for work, but MS and I are like partners working together to get things done. Think hard about (1) what you want to achieve with you life; (2) what you enjoy doing and feel passionate about; and (3) what you are good at doing. When these three stars align, you will shine in your own way.

Best of luck!
